Lived theologies of healing enhance women's flourishing by providing or encouraging medical, social, and psychological support. However, pentecostal theologies of healing can impede women's flourishing by creating a burdensome sense of responsibility in which women blame themselves for not being healed. More disturbingly, many women consider prayer as the most faithful or most feasible strategy for {HIV} prevention. This article identihes women's constrained choices as a theological imperative for Pentecostalism to address gender inequality.}, pages = {7--20}, number = {1}, journaltitle = {Pneuma: The Journal of the Society for Pentecostal Studies}, shortjournal = {Pneuma: The Journal of the Society for Pentecostal Studies}, author = {Attanasi, Katy}, urldate = {2019-10-22}, date = {2015-03}, note = {Paid}, keywords = {{AIDS} (Disease) -- Religious aspects, {GENDER} inequality, {HIV}, Healing, Spiritual, {PENTECOSTAL} churches, {PENTECOSTALISM}, {PREVENTION}, Peer reviewed, Pentecostal churches -- South Africa, {SOUTH} Africa, Women, Pentecostal, gender, global Christianity, inequality, medicine, prayer}, }
