"The Nigerian Association for Biblical Studies (NABIS) was started in 1985. It is a learned society for the critical study of the biblical text and related documents, from various perspectives of academic, theological and scientific approaches."

"Membership is drawn internationally across various fields of academic specialisations including Biblical Studies, Biblical Theology, Systematic Theology, Christian Theology, Textual Reception, Biblical Text and Languages, Biblical Criticism, Church History, Philosophy of Religion, Talmudic Studies, Biblical Anthropology, Biblical Archaeology, and Quranic Studies."

"The Society provides a platform for mutual support, academic and research collaboration, intellectual growth, career development, research dissemination, and global exposure for its members. NABIS offers opportunity for open academic discuss and scholarly exchange through its Annual National National Conference, and it various Zonal Conferences. NABIS undertakes several publications as platform for disseminating research findings and promoting biblical scholarship. The Biblical Studies Series is published annually while the Association’s official journal, African Journal for Biblical Studies (AJBS) is published twice in the year."
