St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology: Call for Papers

05 Novembre 2025

The St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology - a nascent, online, free-to-access encyclopaedia of the highest academic standards - is looking for authors who can help us include various expressions of theologies in Africa. Each chapter, if invited for further contributions, will be around 10,000 words.

This call will join the fast-growing collection of articles on a wide variety of theological topics. Treating the full discipline of theology with rigour and clarity, articles engage in scholarship in the emic rather than the etic mode, introducing theological concepts, structures, and systems. Supported by the University of St Andrews and generously funded by the John Templeton Foundation, the St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology will be comparable to, and to some extent modelled on, the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy, internationally recognized as a highly successful, authoritative resource and a driver of its discipline.

The existing collection about theology in Africa can be searched on the St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology webpage at https://saet.ac.uk. To propose a new topic, please submit a brief proposal to https://www.saet.ac.uk/propose.
