ATW, Advent season and our bibliography of the Four Gospels

15 Décembre 2021

For many people across the globe who follow the western calendar of the Christian church, advent is that period when they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and also prepare for the Second Coming of Christ.

Paul provides a clear explanation when he observes: “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” (Galatians 4:4–6, ESV). To mark Advent 2021 the year in which our website was launched, African Theology Worldwide has assembled bibliographies on the Four Gospels, with almost half of the materials listed in each bibliography freely available online. For a complete listing of these four bibliographies, please see:

(1) Gospel according to Matthew

(2) Gospel according to Mark

(3) Gospel according to Luke

(4) Gospel according to John

ATW offers these bibliographies for free. Users could easily download or export the files to appropriate referencing software they are already using.

Besides our extensive bibliographies on the four gospels, and of special interest in this season, our colleague Sam Bussey published a blog earlier about the shepherds in Ethiopian art. It aims to give a contextualized application of the Advent story using Ethiopian (African) eyes. You can find this blog here.
