ATW and PATR Public Lecture: “Prosperity Gospel and Charismatisation of the Mainline Churches in Dar es Salaam,” by Rev Leita Ngoy

13 June 2023

Location: Zoom (register at https://bit.ly/patrs)

Date: Tuesday 13 June 2023, 19.00 BST

You are invited to join us for the next Roundtable, where our guest speaker, Rev. Leita Ngoy, will be presenting based on her doctoral research. Her research explores the impact of the charismatisation phenomenon from missional, contextual and transcultural perspectives, on the mainline churches in Dar es Salaam (the Lutheran Church as an example). Her study proposes a holistic and contextual understanding of the prosperity gopsel, referred to as the "mafanikio gospel" (drawing inspiration from the Swahili-speaking community in Tanzania). Her aim is to initiate a paradigm shift in theological discourses surrounding the prosperity gospel, challenging stereotypical criticisms often associated with it as a false and misleading theology. We look forward to having you join us!
