Announcement

The African Association for Pastoral Studies and Counselling (AAPSC) is an association that exists to promote pastoral care and counselling throughout Africa. The association aims to educate, equip, and empower individuals and institutions in the theory and practice of pastoral care and counseling. AAPSC invites papers to be presented on the topic of Healing Together: Pastoral Care in a Fractured, Traumatized World. Subthemes include:

  • Public care for healing - How can pastoral care be public in providing healing to societies? In what ways is this considered pastoral, given our traditional understanding of care?
  • Healing together - How can we collaborate towards collective healing?
  • Fractured and broken - How do we perceive others from the perspective of fracturedness and brokenness?
  • International, continental, and local abuse of power - How do we address challenges arising from the abuse of power?
  • Reparation/Restitution, Reconciliation, and Justice - Is it possible to repair, restore, and heal relationships and social realities?
  • Intergenerational trauma - How do we deal with past and current trauma to prevent its transmission to future generations? How can we break the cycle of the victim today becoming the perpetrator tomorrow?
  • Pastoral care and economy - How do we respond to the economic challenges introduced by the US on African countries related to Aid projects in Africa? How do we deal with the economic challenges and opportunities that pastors and congregations face in ministry?
